Where one chapter in the footballing life of Kostas Katsouranis closed, another one has opened. Former Greek International Katsouranis is making good on his promise to return to Melbourne, with the announcement that he will be launching his new venture Kostas Katsouranis Elite camps in Australia with the first camp scheduled for Melbourne in late September.

Having announced his retirement from senior football immediately after a guest appearance for Heidelberg United in last year’s FFA Cup at Olympic Village the decorated midfielder will return to the Village to conduct a week-long training camp for girls and boys from Monday 26 to Friday 30 September.

According to the Katsouranis Elite Camp website, the training camp gives junior players between the ages of eight and 16, ten hours of coaching, and includes an evaluation of each player’s technical and physical capabilities as well as the opportunity for them to be observed by professional scouts.

According to the website, “three participants from each camp will be selected by ‘Kostas Katsouranis team staff’ to attend a weekly training program with [a partnered] European team such as Bayer 04 Leverkusen, SL Benfica, or PAOK to participate in the training program of [that]club for a week. All expenses are covered by the organisers.”

After Melbourne, the next stop will be Adelaide where the camp will take place from Tuesday 4 to Saturday 8 October.

This is the first year of the Kostas Katsouranis Elite Camp program and it has scheduled camps over the next two years in major cities in Australia, the US, and Canada with the long-term aim of establishing the Kostas Katsouranis elite academy in Australia and the USA.

The cost of registering for the week-long camp in Melbourne is $565.
