In response to the humanitarian crisis currently occurring in Europe, Kew’s Rotary Club hosted a fundraiser to assist those seeking asylum in Greece from Syria.
The anticipated event took place at Yanni’s Tavern, with the money raised in a combined effort with Athen’s Rotary Club.
Moved by the generosity of those gathered, President of the Kew Rotary Club George Verginis said the club’s efforts would not stop there.
“This is just the beginning. Many people wished to attend tonight’s fundraiser but were unable due to the limited seating.
“But it’s great to look around and see that we have had such an overwhelming response to our first event. We will of course continue in our efforts, as it is imperative that we help raise funds for those in need,” said Mr Verginis.
