Kingston City Council CEO John Nevins has responded to fines distributed by the Kingston City Council to participants of the annual Grandparents’ Day Concert held by the Manasis School of Greek Dance.
Neos Kosmos, last week, ran a story about fines which were issued to cars parked near the Kingston Town Hall, where the event was held, following recent changes that have designated the parking area a permit zone.
“Council promotes the use and hire of Kingston City Hall to the local and broader community and makes every effort to support users of the facility in their parking requirements.
“Council issued approximately 80 parking permits on the day of the dance event so patrons could access permit parking spaces. Due to the competing parking access demands in the area from other visitors to Moorabbin, unlimited access to all surrounding parking space is not possible and Council cannot always guarantee available parking on site for all patrons.”
“In respect to infringements issued on the day, patrons who either did not display their permit or did not have a permit can lodge an appeal to have their fines waived and this has been communicated to the event organiser,” Nevins told Neos Kosmos.
