Melbourne is going through the greatest level of building, interest and growth “since the gold rush”, Victoria’s Planning Minister Matthew Guy said this week while addressing a client function for national law firm Moray & Agnew.

“I have approved 90 buildings in the central city areas since coming into government and there are more than 70 outstanding applications still to be dealt with in the next few weeks,” he said.

The boom in the property market, in Melbourne and elsewhere in Australia, has benefited almost all professionals involved, including a number of law firms.
Moray & Agnew Lawyers has become one of those firms that has enjoyed the positive effects of the property boom, since its construction practice has experienced a 400 per cent growth in work over the past five years.

Melbourne managing partner of Moray & Agnew Lawyers and head of its construction sector is the president of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria Bill Papastergiadis.

The Moray & Agnew firm employs a total of 550 lawyers across Australia, whilst in the state of Victoria the firm currently employs 140 lawyers, whereas seven years ago it was employing only 12.

It is worth noting that the prestigious law review Australasian Legal Business Review in 2012 declared Moray & Agnew as one of the top ten law firms in Australia and Asia for that year.

It is estimated that in Australia and New Zealand there are more than 100,000 lawyers.
