In Brisbane at a recent milestone function, Griffith University student, Marie Arapakis, became the inaugural winner of a scholarship to assist her in her studies of Online Greek.

The inclusion of Greek Online at Griffith University has been the culmination of three years of work and cooperation between Griffith University, Flinders University (who have designed the online course) and the Lexion Alliance.

Lexion is body set up to bring the course to fruition, raise awareness of the course and to facilitate scholarships. Patron of the Lexion Alliance is Honorary Consul of Greece in Queensland, Mr Jim Raptis.

Present at the function were the Inaugural Scholarship winner, Marie Arapakis and her family, Griffith University’s Professor Paul Mazerolle and other representatives of the university, Lexion Alliance board members as well as donors of scholarships.

This first scholarship was donated and presented by Dr Voula Castan, Chair of the Lexion Alliance in memory of her husband, Dr Costa Castan.

The course is available to students enrolled at Griffith University and there are other scholarships available. The value of each scholarship is $7200. The Lexion Alliance looks forward to awarding many more scholarships.
