As Alexander Graham Bell once said: “Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.”

With VCE examinations just months away, the Modern Greek Teaching Association of Victoria (MGTAV) is endeavouring to prepare language students early with an informative seminar.

Taking place at the University of Melbourne’s Elisabeth Murdoch Theatre, the MGTAV’s President Maria Dikaiou says the seminar will provide students with an insight into “the expectations of the end of year examination for Modern Greek”.

Presenting on the day will be teachers of Modern Greek with years of experience, sharing invaluable information on both the written and oral components of the exam.

Cost of attendance is $10 per student, and free of charge for accompanying teachers.

The association will also be hosting a two-day conference for teachers of the language next month at Melbourne University’s Graduate House.

An array of topics will be covered, including e-learning and the flipped classroom, iPad use in the Greek language classroom, differentiation in the languages classroom, along with how to implement fun and games.

The Bilingual Bookshop, Grafos Games and Education (Language) Perfect will also have displays set up over the two days.

The MGTAV has existed for more than 35 years, and is run by teachers of Greek who aim to promote the language and culture, while offering support to teachers and schools.

The student seminar will take place on Sunday 23 August, 2015 from 10.30 am-12.00 pm. If you require a registration form, email mgta.vic@gmail.com or call 0411 789 798.
