Convicted terrorist Nikos Maziotis refused to give a deposition to a magistrate who visited him in the hospital where he is being treated for a bullet wound.

The magistrate’s visit came as sources told Kathimerini that the police have evidence suggesting Maziotis had a second hideout in northeastern Attica. The apartment he rented with his partner, Pola Roupa, in the northern Athens suburb of Maroussi was discovered last week.

Maziotis refused to even confirm his name when visited by the magistrate on the weekend. When asked what his profession was, he replied “revolutionary.” The head of the Revolutionary Struggle urban guerrilla group asked to be discharged from the hospital and moved to Korydallos Prison.

Despite Maziotis’s silence, police are starting to build a picture of his movements in recent days and weeks. They have found CCTV footage of him at Kato Patissia and Aghios Nikolaos electric railway (ISAP) stations and have detained a man the terrorist is alleged to have met a few days before he was arrested. Three bulletproof vests, two laptops and a wig were seized at the man’s house in Neos Cosmos, near central Athens.

Officers have also discovered images from CCTV on the Attiko Odos ring road and national highway of the silver Hyundai Accent car that Maziotis bought using a fake ID card. This has led them to believe that he was renting another property, possibly in Grammatiko or Marathon in northeastern Attica. No guns or explosives were found at the Maroussi property so police believe that they may be located at the second hideout.

Police released images of Maziotis and three other men wearing disguises during two bank robberies. One of the men is a 35-year-old that police believe worked with Maziotis and fugitive criminal Vassilis Palaiocostas.
