Melbourne City ended its UK tour with a 5-1 win over a Bolton Wanderers reserve side.

After Conor Wilkinson gave Bolton a fifth-minute lead, City dominated the rest of the match and scored through Patrick Kisnorbo, David Williams, Aaron Mooy, James Brown and Mate Dugandzic.

Bolton, which plays in the second-tier English Championship, used mostly reserve and under-21 players for the match played at County Ground, Leyland.

The resounding win caps a successful tour for Melbourne City, which was unbeaten across three games.

John van’t Schip’s team earned a 1-1 draw with third-tier Oldham Athletic and 2-2 draw with fourth-tier Bury in previous matches, training at parent club Manchester City’s Carrington training base.

Van’t Schip has also used the tour to blood new signing Damien Duff.

Duff, who won two English Premier League titles with Chelsea, played the first 45 minutes against Bolton and set up Mooy’s goal.

The touring squad left Manchester last week and arrived in Melbourne on the weekend.

City’s first match of the upcoming season is against Sydney FC in the FFA Cup on 12 August.
