Brisbane Roar have replaced one Albanian striker with another, after signing Mensur Kurtishi on a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old will slot into the vacant forward position left by Besart Berisha, who joined the Melbourne Victory after winning three A-League championships with Brisbane.

Kurtishi has been training with the Brisbane squad since his arrival in Australia last week, and could possibly make his debut for the A-League champions in their FFA Cup clash in Townsville on August 19.

He joins the Roar following stints in Austria, UAE, Iran, Kazakhstan and FYROM.

“Mensur has trained with us for a few sessions now,” Roar coach Mike Mulvey said.

“He’s clicked well with the other players and it’s clear that he understands our system and the way we want to play football.

“Mensur is a proven goalscorer with an excellent goals-to-game ratio and we’re confident he’ll enjoy it here in Brisbane, both on and off the field.”

Kurtishi added: “I’ve watched games from last season and like the way the team plays football.”
