Following new cuts introduced into federal parliament earlier this week, Australia is likely to see people of pension age who have been born overseas living on a Special Benefit.

Around 2,400 migrants each year could be forced to wait 15 years for the Age Pension at the same rate as Newstart.

On top of that, pensioners are bound to lose their Pension Supplement if they spend more than six weeks overseas.

Meanwhile, as of 1 July 2018 apart from the ongoing changes to penalty rates, new cuts to Family Tax Benefits mean couples with children are expected to be up to $2,000 worse off.

The government is also pushing to extend the liquid assets waiting period from 13 weeks to six months forcing people to draw down on their savings before being eligible for income support in the event they lose their job.

Students are not escaping unscathed either with support being cut by more than $90 million as a result of changes to the eligibility of the relocation scholarship.
