Greek Australian Nektaria Georgys had the honour of styling some of the girlfriends and wives of the Brownlow hopefuls this week, with more than four couples picking her as their stylist of choice.
A total of nine got the Nektaria treatment, with Ms Georgys saying she had to turn away some clients with the demand increasing. Dressing the Brownlows for the first time, Ms Georgys told Neos Kosmos preparations had started months in advance, with many of her stars travelling far and wide for fittings.
But, it wasn’t just the girls that got the special treatment. Last year’s Brownlow medallist Jobe Watson was draped in Ted Baker by Ms Georgys, while Sydney Swans captain Jarrad McVeigh attempted to steal some attention from his wife with a silver studded suit.
Ms Georgys and her company, Nektaria Creative, exclusively brought Australian wedding dress designer Steven Khalil to Melbourne earlier this year, who was introducing his new line of evening wear. No surprise the WAGs of the AFL clamoured to get their dress of choice. Ella Keddie, Jobe Watson’s partner, fell in love with a wedding dress design by Khalil and even asked to get an evening dress custom made out of the design with yellow details.
As much as the dresses get the publicity, the jewels and endless bling were there to catch a interested eye. Nektaria Creative worked with Bulgari to match the dress with thousands of dollars worth of jewels and gems.
“We even had a bodyguard watching the girls on the red carpet,” Ms Georgys reveals.
Now Nektaria Creative is working towards the award season in the US. Ms Georgys is already working hard with designers and stylists to dress some of the most famous faces in the movie business.
