Future Fund chairman and former federal treasurer of Australia Peter Costello, former Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority chairman John Laker and Google Australia head Maile Carnegie are the new appointees to the external advisory panel of the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC).

ASIC chairman Greg Medcraft welcomed the four year appointment of Peter Costello and John Laker, saying their presence would help even further the work of the corporate regulator in the financial sector. Mr Medcraft also welcomed the appointment of Ms Carnegie, which was designed to help ASIC respond to technological change.

ASIC’s 17-member External Advisory Panel meets four times a year, in order to channel senior level advice from the financial services industry to ASIC.
