Olympiakos has stunned Arsenal after defeating the English side 3-2 in London.

Donning its blue kit, the Greek side took the lead in the 33rd minute thanks to Felipe Pardo, before Theo Walcott equalised for the hosts two minutes later.

Arsene Wenger’s decision to rest first choice keeper Petr Cech could come back to hurt the Gunners, after David Ospina gifted Olympiakos a 2-1 lead going into half time, with a blunder in the 40th minute resulting in an own goal.

The Gunners drew back after the break courtesy of Alexis Sanchez in the 65th, but Alfred Finnbogason ensured Olympiakos would return to Greece with all three points, after finding the back of the net only one minute later.

The visitors stood up in defence with Esteban Cambiasso a colossal down back – the 35 year old marshalling the back four to withstand Arsenal’s offence, which included 17 attempts (nine on target).

Arsenal dominated the statistics, controlling the ball 63 per cent of the time, and managed over 350 more passes than Olympiakos, but it was the Greek side which would win its first game in England, having lost its previous 12.

After the game, Olympiakos manager Marco Silva said his side was never afraid of Arsenal as it ended six consecutive away losses in Europe.

“We were very concentrated on the game, very focussed,” Silva said.

“The most important thing was for the players to give everything they had, to believe in themselves and never be scared.

“We were never scared, even when Arsenal scored. We always respect our opponents but we were never scared and never thought we couldn’t make it.”

After two matches Olympiakos sits second in Group F, above Dinamo Zagreb on goal difference, and faces that side in Zagreb on October 20.
