Yorgos Lanthimos never stops, it seems, with another exciting project on the way.

This time the Greek director is turning his attention to the small screen and teaming up with the studio behind The Walking Dead and Humans in a new series titled On Becoming a God in Central Florida, in which Lanthimos is being paired with lead actress Kirsten Dunst.

Said to still be in the very early stages, the series is being written by Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky and is set in early ’90s Orlando.

The dark comedy follows Krystal Gill, a recent widow and water park employee, played by Dunst, in her pursuit of the American Dream. Left with close to nothing after the death of her partner and working for minimum wage, Gill “lies, schemes, and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise”, a cultish, flag-waving, multi-billion dollar pyramid scheme that drove her to ruin in the first place, reports TV Line.

Joining Lanthimos and Dunst are fellow A-listers George Clooney and Grant Heslov, who through their production company Smokehouse Pictures will also be on board as executive producers.

Aside from the series, following on from the success of his recent film The Lobster, Lanthimos is reuniting with actor Colin Farrell on his next project, The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

A psychological thriller that incorporates elements of the supernatural, according to reports the film is expected for release sometime this year.
