Panathinaikos have all but qualified to the Greek Cup final after their 16-point win at Iraklis in the first leg of the semifinal on Wednesday.

In the other semifinal Olympiakos have taken the upper hand over Aris but will need to be careful in the return leg to ensure their qualification to the final.

The Greens won 80-64 in an eventful game at Thessaloniki which had to be interrupted for about 45 minutes.

The objects that Iraklis fans threw at the court forced the referees to stop the match at the third period, with the score at 57-40 in favour of Panathinaikos. The officials asked for the stands to be evacuated.

Eventually the match resumed but the picture of the game did not change and A2 leaders Iraklis succumbed to the might of the European champions.

Olympiakos have a taken a 14-point advantage after their 78-64 win at the first leg at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Wednesday, but Aris showed they can challenge their opponents when they host the return leg.

Aris could have taken a better result, but they failed to find the target when they were just four or six points behind Olympiakos in the last period, but their shots let them down.

In the end Olympiakos turned the score from 68-64 to 78-64 and took a result that saved their face in front of their fans.

The return leg games are scheduled for January 20.
