Brisbane Roar had it right in 2011 and 2012, when it won back to back championships. Why? None other than Greek coach Ange Postecoglou was at the helm.

Tasked with reinventing the club back in 2010, the current Socceroos coach left a lasting legacy, which is why it’s no surprise he was the first point of call for Roar management as they look towards the next season.

The Courier Mail is reporting that Roar chairman Chris Fong has asked Postecoglou for advice as the club looks to hire a new coach.

Roar’s 2014 Championship-winning coach Mike Mulvey was unceremoniously dethroned thanks to an abysmal start to the season, and interim coach Frans Thijssen isn’t staying.

Auckland City mentor Ramon Tribulietx has been tipped to be favoured for the job, but still awaits confirmation.

Earlier this month, Postecolgou said “no matter who the coach is, they’ve got to get it right”.

The club is struggling to deal with poor finances and is set to record a loss of more than $2.25 million for the 2014-15 financial year.

Fong flew to Indonesia this week to meet with club owners the Bakrie Group about their plans to return to profit.

The club’s players at least have been paid, and are continuing to prepare for their June 3 friendly against Spanish club Villarreal.
