The ninth lecture in the GOCMV’s Greek History and Culture Seminars program, Professor Dirk Baltzly will be presenting on Proclus (412-85 CE) – one of the most influential ancient Greek philosophers.

Despite his significance during the period and beyond, not many people have heard of him and his work.

Eventually named head of Plato’s Academy, Proclus is a highly regarded figure of mathematics, having published various commentaries on the work of other mathematicians.

Professor Baltzly, professor of philosophy and director of the philosophy program at the University of Tasmania, has translated and written extensively on Proclus, making him the perfect candidate to give attendees a greater insight into the life and work of the late philosopher.
