Greek Australian women will have a chance to celebrate International Women’s Day and hear about the importance of being female role models at the Food for Thought Network’s ‘Girls and Education’ event.

The event will see professor Joy Damousi, professor Georgina Tsolidis, Dr Ann Mitsis, and student Maree Skalistis speak on a panel moderated by Alphington Grammar principal Vivianne Nikou.

“The purpose of the discussion is to share the varied journeys, to inspire, challenge and activate,” Food for Thought Network’s founder and chair Varvara Ioannou says.

“It was natural that for International Women’s Day our focus is on inviting distinguished women to share what helped and hindered their careers.”

The panel will also be joined by the first Greek Australian female state minister, Jenny Mikakos, who will give the key note address, and wife of the Greek ambassador to Australia, Eyvah Dafaranos who will speak on the importance of being a role model for Greek Australian women.

The event will be held on Sunday 8 March at 6pm at The Wheeler Centre, 176 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne .
