This weekend the Hawthorn Spartans take a well earned break during their bye and look towards securing an even longer winning streak.

They made it eight wins in a row last week, beating Prahran Assumption 155-73.

They set up the win early on with a great start, buoyed by Hawthorn Footballer, John Ceglar watching closely in the crowd.

The Spartan’s led by 30 points from the first quarter and doubled their points in the second, leaving Prahran behind.

The club is growing its reputation as a formidable attacking team that share their goals to make more and more opportunities.

Anthony Marguccio actually set a game record, scoring 11 goals and could have made it 12 if it wasn’t for a deflected shot. The current top goal scorer for the Spartans is still Antonio Brizzi, who normally scores at least six goals a game, but sadly only came a way with one this time.

The Spartans will have their next game on 14 June against Mt Lilydale at home, Rathmines Reserve, at 11.40am.

The club will have another sponsor and souvlaki day with charcoal barbecues burning and the canteen open. All supporters and their family and friends are welcome.

At the conclusion of the match, the club will host their Poker Night fundraiser.
