Parisian performance artist Travis Durden has taken to sculpting to seize the Star Wars momentum.

Days before George Lucas’ iconic film franchise’s latest epic is about to break onto the big screen, Durden presents a new exhibition entitled ‘Contre Attaque’.

The title, roughly translating to ‘counter attack’ in French, features breathtaking mashups of several iconic Star Wars characters, from Darth Vader to Yoda through to Boba Fett and storm troopers as ancient Greek statues.

On display at the Galerie Sakura, one can see Durden’s superimposed Star Wars characters’ faces over photographs of artwork from the Louvre.

Durden has digitally sculpted a series of five figures into Renaissance-style 3D art pieces onto fake marble antique busts with the help of his team.

The exhibition represents work from over 35 international artists such as Sacha Goldberger and Alexandre Nicholas, and mixes a variety of media including sculpture, painting, photography and Swarovski crystals.

If you happen to find yourselves wandering in Paris, the ‘Contre Attaque’ exhibition runs until January 15 with free public admission at Galerie Sakura, 50 Cour Saint-Emilion.
