For the sixth year in a row, the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation called on students of all ages to participate in an open competition and submit their works of art or writing inspired by the WWII Greek campaign.

More than 300 entries were submitted by Friday 12 September, while last Sunday an award ceremony took place at the historical site located in Domain Gardens.

Winners were announced in front of a large crowd of teachers, their fellow students, and family members.

Cash prizes from $50 to $250 were awarded, while all contestants received a Certificate of Participation and a badge.
The purpose of the annual competition held by the Australian Memorial Foundation is to commemorate all Australian and Greek soldiers who fought side by side during WWII.

“We wish to thank all who participated, over 300 students, the schools, sponsors, and Mr George Kavouklis, for supporting through the Educational Affairs of the Greek Consul Generals Office”, president Steve Kyritsis OAM said on behalf of the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation.
