Mission accomplished for the fundraising event organised by the Food for Thought Greek Australian Women’s Network. Thanks to the generous donors, the passionate Maree Skalistis will travel to The Hague this January, to represent Australia at The Hague International Model United Nations Conference. Maree Skalistis’ case was highlighted in a recent Neos Kosmos story.

In Maree’s own words: “I was overcome by the sheer generosity and kindness of words my family and I had received from all those in attendance at the event, with myself having left the evening feeling motivated and determined to continue along my path of pursuing social justice. I could not be more grateful to the efforts of the Food For Thought Network for putting on this fundraising event, and also providing generous sponsorship so that I can represent my country.”

“Maree’s thirst for knowledge, focus and ethos are a true inspiration for all young Greek Australian women,” commented the founder of the Food for Thought Greek Australian Women’s Network, Varvara Ioannou.

“Tonight, our network members made sure that she gets what she needs to make her dreams come true – funding to travel to The Hague, as well as two influential mentors, to help her set ambitious, worthy goals and achieve them.”

Getting together for a good cause was also mixed with learning and fun, as Dr Angelos Rodafinos, author of the hilarious practical psychology book Idiots are Invincible, entertained and educated the audience with his recipe for a stress-free Christmas.
