Sydney FC has confirmed it will host Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur in a one-off friendly match on May 30.

Spurs will bring their strongest available cohort of players to the ANZ stadium fixture.

“I am delighted to be able to confirm that Sydney FC will compete against one of English football’s top clubs, Tottenham Hotspur,” Sydney FC chairman Scott Barlow said in a statement.

“This will be a fantastic occasion for this city and one for all Sydney FC supporters and Sydneysiders to get excited about.

“Tottenham Hotspur are one of the biggest and most glamorous football clubs and share our philosophy of exciting, attacking football on the pitch and an iconic, premium brand off it.

“This has the potential to be the most anticipated game of the year and will stand out as a highlight in the 2015 sporting calendar.”

Australian football fans will be spoilt for choice in the off-season, with Sydney FC’s announcement coming after Premier League defending champion Manchester City, European champion Real Madrid and Serie A giant Roma were confirmed to take part in the International Champions Cup event in Melbourne.
