The Hellenic Initiative (THI) Australia is proving that in testing times, the large Hellenic diaspora is one of Greece’s strengths with the launch of One Greece 2017.

The national initiative is a philanthropic endeavour aimed at helping the people of Greece by putting to use the strength and resources of the diaspora.

A series of events will kick off across the country in October with a premier at the Sydney Town Hall and follow on across Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Darwin.

Expected to be attended by over 1,500 business and community leaders, the engaging series will raise awareness about THI Australia’s efforts on crisis relief, entrepreneurship and economic development within Greece.

“Greece is a nation that has given much to the modern world. And yet, Greece has become a country commonly defined by the economic challenges it has faced. The Greek people, and the Greek ideal, deserve better and we, as members of the Hellenic diaspora, or simply as philhellenes, can play our part,” says the One Greece team.

“One Greece 2017 is a call to come together to help write a new chapter for Greece.”

Events will feature international speakers both Greek and philhellene, who share these ideals and who are currently working within Greece, including THI International Ambassador, noted humanitarian and philanthropist, Princess Tatiana and co-founder of food saving charity Boroume, Alexander Theodoridis.
