Two young members of Golden Dawn, George Fountoulis and Manos Kapelonis, have been shot dead outside the party’s offices in the northern Athens suburb of Neo Iraklio, at 7pm local time on Friday.

The men were shot by two gunmen who were on a motorcycle and wearing helmets.

A third victim was seriously injured.

Police at the scene have cordoned off the area, where Golden Dawn supporters have rallied. The antiterrorist squad has also been called in, in order to carry out an investigation.

Golden Dawn released two statements, blaming “terrorists,” the “anti-Greek government of Samaras” and Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias “personally” for the deaths of its members, because police protection was removed when its leader Nikos Michaloliakos and several MPs were charged with being members of a criminal organization after the murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas by a Golden Dawn supporter.

The attack was condemned by all the parliamentary parties.
