The sequel to last year’s original feature film on the streaming-video service, Dead Rising: Watchtower is happening.

The movie – based on Capcom’s popular video-game franchise which has sold more than nine million copies worldwide – is being filmed in Vancouver and the second instalment is scheduled to debut this summer.

Dead Rising: Endgame is set in the zombie-infested, quarantined zone of East Mission City, where investigative reporter Chase Carter (played by Jesse Metcalfe) is struggling to stop a secret government conspiracy which, though seemingly aimed at ending the country’s zombie epidemic, will also kill millions of innocent civilians.

Dead Rising: Endgame has added Billy Zane and Marie Avgeropoulos to its cast.

Zane will play Rand, a mad scientist who conducts experiments on the infected zombies, while Marie Avgeropoulos will play the main character’s love interest, a computer hacker trying to uncover the truth.

Avgeropoulos is currently in the series The 100, and previously appeared in Percy Jackson & The Olympians: Lightning Thief.

Billy Zane most recently appeared in the long-awaited Zoolander 2 sequel.
