Today, Monday 3 April, president of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), Nicholas Larigakis will be in Melbourne to present a lecture on ‘United States Relations with Greece and Cyprus: The Role of the American Hellenic Institute’ at the Greek Centre.

Mr Larigakis will provide insight on the important role played by the organisation, which was established in 1974 following the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, and has since actively lobbied US political institutions on a variety of matters pertaining to the Turkish occupation of Cyprus.

Mr Larigakis is one of the most prominent lobbyists in Hellenic world affairs, and was appointed president of the AHI in 2011 following a 19-year term as its executive officer.

He has been responsible for a number of key legislative conferences, trade conferences, and two congressional fact finding delegations to Greece.

The lecture is being made possible by the GOCMV with the help of the Pan-Macedonian Association of Melbourne and Victoria, and the Australian Hellenic Council.

The lecture will be presented on Monday 3 April at the Greek Centre (168 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, VIC) at 7.00 pm. Attendance is free. For more information, visit greekcommunity.com.au/seminars or call (03) 9662 2722.
