Yarra City Council has elected a new mayor. He is first term independent Phillip Vlahogiannis.
In his acceptance speech, Cr Vlahogiannis said he would fulfil his role as mayor as a “communicator, mediator and a negotiator”.
Cr Vlahogiannis has been a keen campaigner on parking issues around the suburbs of Richmond and Cremorne and said one of his priorities would be to reconnect Yarra Council with parts of the community that felt disengaged from local government decision making.
