The Western Sydney Wanderers have dominated the Asian Football Confederation awards in Manila.

The Wanderers’ Asian Champions League victory over Al-Hilal to become the first-ever Australian winners of the tournament – on their competition debut – saw them named the team of the year.

Tony Popovic was handed the coach of the year award for guiding the Wanderers to the historic feat.

Socceroos captain and Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak was named the international player of the year.

Katrina Gorry was named women’s player of the year after hitting the net three times in Australia’s run to the Women’s Asian Cup final.

Meanwhile, Nassir Al Shamrani, who was involved in an infamous spitting incident in the fall-out of Al-Hilal’s ACL final loss to the Wanderers, took out the Asian Player of the Year award.
