The Opening of the Legal Year ceremony, which took place on Tuesday 3 February, saw the unification of the community and the legal system in a celebration of the new year and collaborative efforts in working towards a just society.

The ceremony involved an Eastern Orthodox service at St Eustathios Church in South Melbourne and was attended by governors, judges, ministers and other politicians, academics, religious leaders and lawyers.

Future events for the legal year of 2015 include the Retrial of Socrates at the Hellenic Museum on March 7 and a seminar presentation by Monash law professor Moira Patterson on the 18th of March.

The next event on March 7 will involve a retrial of Socrates in front of prominent figures in the Australian legal system such as Justice Lex Lazry, Justice Emilios Kyrou and Judge Felicity Hampel. The seminar run by Professor Moira Patterson on March 18 will be focused on the topic of data breach notification and will be held at the Monash Law Chambers on Lonsdale Street.

In addition to the events, the Hellenic Australian Lawyers association is also offering a reduced Delphi Club Membership, valued at $500, for just $300 for all HAL members.
