Yianni Lambropoulos has taken out the top spot at the 2016 Youth Jewellers Group Jewellery Design and Manufacturing Championships, taking out the title of Champion Jeweller.

Held at the Sydney Exhibition Centre over two days, Lambropoulos who is the founder of Giannis Manufacturing Jewellers, was one of five craftsman selected from a group of thousands of jewellers to battle it out.

Each were given 12 grams of gold, an oval opal, and several smaller stones with the instruction to create a piece of jewellery of their choosing within an 11 hour time frame.

The materials Lambropoulos had to work with over an 11 hour period.

Thrilled with the result, Lambropoulos took to his Facebook page to express his thanks.

“I was lucky enough to win first prize and have been named ‘Champion Jeweller’. I’m feeling humbled and overjoyed! I’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing support,” he wrote.
