It’s not unusual for a soccer game to be interrupted by unexpected factors and few things can be more unexpected in a game, than an old lady with a walking stick. The incident occurred during a youth football league game in Thesprotia, Ipirus, when to everyone’s astonishment, an old lady decided to cross the field, causing confusion and making a timeout necessary.
The inevitable video of the intrusion emerged, though there is no explanation as to the reason she opted to do this. Maybe she mistook the field for a park; maybe she was too tired to walk all the way round the field; or maybe, like any self-respecting Greek yiayia, she is defiant of a bunch of kids in shorts chasing around a ball.
