Young Greek Australians will be able to chat to like minded young professionals and network under the newly created HACCI Young Professionals Network (HYPN).

The network, to be launched next month, aims to fill the gap of providing a space for young Greek Australians to discuss business and get peer advice when entering the workforce after study.

Using the success of their networking events for professionals, the Chamber hopes to host a number of events and engage the younger Greek community with the wider Greek Australian workforce.

“We’re aiming to create a professional network that will allow young Hellenic Australians to connect on common issues and goals, boost their professional contacts, and give something back to their community,” HYPN convenor Ashley Nasiakos says.

“We believe that this sort of professional network has been missing for too long from the Hellenic Australian community.”

Members of the HYPN will have access to HACCI’s wider calendar of events, and the mentor and internship program the Chamber offers.

The launch event on August 13 will include a keynote speech by Greek Australian entrepreneur and author of Adventures of Balloon Girl, Despina Karatzias.

Ms Karatzias runs Global Ballooning, a hot air ballooning business that services the city and the Yarra Valley.

“When I was a young professional, starting my career, I learned quickly how important it was to establish and maintain a strong professional network. I believe the HYPN will help many young Hellenic Australians to achieve this,” Ms Karatzias says.

The Young Professionals Network will be launched on August 13 at Kri Kri Mezethopolion, 39-41 Little Bourke St, Melbourne at 6.00 pm. The event is free, and mezedes, wine and soft drink will be provided.
