Author David Sedaris, known for his sardonic wit, insightful commentary and wicked satire, will be spending the summer in Australia with a national tour in January 2014 in his show An Evening with Davis Sedaris.

Sedaris’s social critique and observations of the human condition have made him one of the world’s most pre-eminent humorists. His latest book release, Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, debuted at number one on the New York Times best-seller list. An Evening With David Sedaris will tour some of Australia’s most celebrated arts venues and also bring him back to Auckland, this time at the renowned, Civic Theatre.

Sedaris uses his words to paint pictures that blend the familiar with the ridiculous. Mining everything from his upbringing in a conventional family, to an unconventional job as ‘Crumpet the Elf’ at the famous Macy’s department store, Sedaris never fails to entertain and enlighten. Through commentary on everything from living in Japan for three months to quitting smoking, Sedaris weaves extraordinary tales of a life seen just outside the every day.

Sedaris has sold over seven million copies of his books Me Talk Pretty One Day and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and has won countless literary awards. Known for his original radio pieces for This American Life (heard in Australia on ABC Radio National), Sedaris is also a regular contributor to the legendary New Yorker magazine. A feature film adaptation of his short story C.O.G. premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2013.

An Evening with David Sedaris will show in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, Auckland, and Brisbane. For tickets and more information visit www.davidsedaristour.com.au
