A new exhibition by Greek Australian artist Angy Labiris has been launched and features some images from his time in Greece. Labiris spends three months a year on his new property near Pylos and many of his new artworks created are landscapes in the area.
Angy was born in Platy Kalamatas and has been in Australia for nearly 50 years. He has always been interested in art and has been drawing and painting from a very early age. In the ’70s he studied Art History at La Trobe University.
His last exhibition was in the early 1990s in Richmond. Since the mid-1990s he has been a businessman, during which period he did not paint. He recommenced in 2011 after selling his business.He exhibited at home with the Alphington Open Studio group in 2011 and 2012.
His exhibition was launched Thursday night at Cotham Gallery, 101 Cotham Road, Kew, and will continue there until 19 December.
