The Hellenic Museum presents the works of one of Greece’s most celebrated painters, Alekos Fassianos, in a new exhibition, Fassianos: Ancient Myth, Modern Situations.

Fassianos currently lives in Athens, and has exhibited his work in numerous solo and collaborative shows in Greece and around the world. His paintings can be found in museums, galleries and private collections in Europe, the US and Japan. His unique style is coveted around the world, original works fetching prices of up to $100,000. The artist’s personal style is distinct, drawing inspiration from Greek myth, Byzantine icons and shadow puppetry. His subject matter concerns heroic characters and allegory set against the landscape of everyday life.

Fassianos: Ancient Myth, Modern Situations is on at the Hellenic Museum through to February 2012. Free entry.
