An exhibition of the legacy of Alexander the Great: 2000 years to treasures from the State Hermitage Museum in Russia, will be on display in November at the Australian Museum in Sydney.
In this photo, a cameo dating back to the 1st century, from Italy, with a scene of Trajan’s hunt on the Arch of Constantine in Rome and a 12th century Byzantine silver gilded dish found in 1982 with a hoard of silver items in the village of Lopkhari in the Shuryshkar District of the Yamai-Nenets.
This dish is an exceptional example of Byzantine metalwork from the time of the crusades.
