Tourism revenues could reach an all-time high of 13 billion euros next year, according to the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE).

“For that to happen,” says SETE head Andreas Andreadis, “the country must continue to project a picture of stability, resolve and commitment to fulfilling its main targets.”

Already, the increase in bookings for Greece from the British market amounts to 10 percent. Andreadis believes that if the pattern set by the UK is repeated in other markets where bookings have not yet started, the target of reaching 18 million tourists next year will be attainable. The new increase for a second consecutive year of air seats to Greece by 1 million is another good sign for the tourism in 2014.

Greece is set to record one of the highest annual increases in revenues from tourism this year, amounting to 15 percent, rising from 10 billion euros in 2012 to 11.5 billion euros. If one adds the receipts from cruise tourism (which as of this year are added to the total amount of tourism revenues), then the inflow level will come close to 12.2 billion euros for 2013.
