Nikolaos Makarezos, one of the leaders of the military dictatorship that ruled Greece from 1967-1974, died last week at the age of ninety.
Colonel Makarezos died on Monday and was buried Tuesday.
Makarezos was a ringleader of the military coup that seized power on April 21, 1967.
Makarezos was arrested after the fall of the dictatorship in 1974 and sentenced to death for treason — a sentence later commuted to life imprisonment.
He was released in 1990 on the grounds of poor health and he lived in Athens in recent years.
