Acclaimed film and theatre director Greek Australian Nadia Tass is back at Red Stitch to direct the world premiere of American play, Out of the Water by Brooke Berman.

The play is a searing search of love and family, it delves into the depths of personal loneliness and questions our primal hunger for intimacy. It tells the story of two half siblings, who haven’t seen each other for years, but reunited find themselves incredibly attracted to each other.

Tass, who directed The Aliens in 2011, and The Grönholm Method in 2010, returns to direct this tale of what family is all about, on the island of Manhattan.

”It doesn’t have that huge impact of tragedy,” Tass says. ”What it does have is an in-depth exploration of who we are and the decisions we make. It’s made up of emotionally laden vignettes.,” Tass told The Age.

Out of the Water is on at Red Stitch theatre now until 8 March. For bookings call (03) 9533 8083 or www.redstitch.net
