The Greek Australian Cultural League (GACL) has invited members of the Greek Australian community to contribute to the 59th volume of the literary periodical Antipodes, that will be launched in October.
This year’s issue, that will honour the University Lecturer Maria Herodotou, will publish literary works submitted by its members, in Greek and English, after being approved by the Editorial Committee.
Length limits apply to each category: 100 lines for poems, 2000 words for stories and essays, 3000 words for studies, 1000 words for book reviews. Works that exceed the specified size limits will be rejected.
Seven non-returnable copies per contribution should be submitted before the 7 June, 2013, and posted to the: Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne, University of Melbourne, P.O. Box 4307, Parkville, Vic, 3052; or submitted in electronic form, to gacl.editor@gmail.com
During the launch of this year’s Antipodes periodical, GACL will announce results of its annual Literary Competition.
The competition includes works written in Greek or English language in categories of poetry (not to exceed 100 lines), short story (2000 words) and one act theatrical play (15 minutes duration).
All submissions, one entry per category, should be the original works of the author and should not have been submitted in another competition or have been previously published.
Four copies of the work need to be submitted. In addition to the four copies, the work should also be electronically sent to cathyalex@hotmail.com
For each work submitted by the same person, the same pseudonym needs to be used in place of the author’s name.
The author’s full name and corresponding pseudonym, their address, telephone number and email, along with the title of the work/s should be placed in a separate sealed envelope with their entry/entries to ensure anonymity.
The results of the literary competition will be announced at a special function incorporating the launch of the League’s annual, bilingual periodical Antipodes in October 2013. All first prize winning works in each category will be published in the periodical. Prize winners will receive a commemorative certificate via post.
All entries must be submitted the latest by 7 June 2013, and sent posted to: Greek-Australian Cultural League, University of Melbourne, P.O. Box 4307, Parkville, Vic, 3052; and electronically to cathyalex@hotmail.com
