Greek British singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis, aka Marina and the Diamonds, has released her third album ‘Froot’ in Australia.

Following her hugely successful second album ‘Electra Heart’ in 2012, the Greek star used the time wisely to produce an album that is uniquely her own.
She has shied away from collaborators who she felt weren’t following her direction well.

“Because I was working with such huge people, like Dr Luke, they weren’t going to listen to what I had to say about production,” she says.

“It was more like: ‘What’s the successful sound right now?’ And really it’s a shame for me to do that, because I’m not that type of artist. That was the gripe. It was nothing to do with the songs. I love the songs.”

The 29-year-old has moved past the collaborators and instead released an album through the help of co-producer David Kosten.

The half-Greek half-Welsh singer has spoken and written about the sheltered life she lived in a Greek household. At the age of 16, following her parents divorce, the singer moved to Greece to live with her father, but moved back to the UK two years later.
