The latest action movie by Alex Proyas, Gods of Egypt, is set to film in Sydney.
“Great news for NSW film industry with another Hollywood blockbuster, Gods of Egypt, coming to Sydney. 400 jobs & $75m boost to NSW economy,” Andrew Stoner, NSW’s deputy premier said on Twitter.
Proyas was born in Egypt, to Greek parents. The family relocated to Australia when he was three years old and Proyas attended the Australian Film Television & Radio School as a contemporary of Jane Campion and Jocelyn Moorhouse. He is best known for directing the films The Crow (1994), Dark City (1998), I, Robot (2004), and Knowing (2009).
The cast is set to include big names such as Gerard Butler and Geoffrey Rush.
