More often than not, the Neos Kosmos inbox is filled with emails exclamations of a the new and latest talent, and in some cases the artistic life and achievements of this youngster proved to be just a figment of the family’s imagitation. However, in the case of 15-year-old Nick Drossos, the talent is very true.

I know it sounds impossible but that does not mean I will not try. I’ll do what I can and if I cannot get there I will continue to sing for my friends,

For example, the fact that this young oby has performed for both the Australian Ballet Company and the Opera Victoria – two arts companies who have a reputation for excellence – the proof is undeniable.

If one considers that Nick at the age of 15 has already taken part in at least two productions of the Australian Ballet Company – The Nutcracker and The King and I, and three productions of Opera Victoria in one of which he had a leading role, then surely the little gentleman in the eye, is if not great, at least mature enough to stand on the stage.

He may not be a popstar yet, but finding time from his busy schedule to talk to him was hard. But ever so generous, I was given ten minutes for a chat with this student, singer and dancer.

His relationship with music and dance began when he was only five. Originally it was the dance that put Nick onto the stage but after a while Nick hung his ballet shoes and tights, and turned to singing. And all this even before he will reach the age of 13. Today he declares that he knows exactly what career he wants to pursue.

“I want to be a pop star. But I know it’s very hard so I think of following the path of architecture, as an alternative,” said the15 year old academically impeccable student as his parents informed me

On top of all this, he decided some time ao to create also a YouTube channel. Within a month, it had 11,000 visitors who had nothing but praise for his music and songs.

His big idol is young popster Bruno Mars, who happens to be a hit on the charts around the world, and also happens to be just a tad older than Nick.

“I know it sounds impossible but that does not mean I will not try. I’ll do what I can and if I cannot get there I will continue to sing for my friends,” he says.

At school, however, Nicholas has already become a pop star. Step by step they say and conquering one domain after the other.

One of his immediate plans is to take part in the talent contest The Voice, but as he says, he needs to have patience – not that age pressures him to take any decisions urgently – for his voice to mature a little more and for his repertoire to increase.

The dream of Nick is also followed by many supporters. The biggest of all is his grandfather Spyros.

“He enjoys listening to me, but …” he adds that his grandfather has a small problem with the repertoire his musical stylings. Nick says instead of listening to songs like Crazy or other pop ballads like Just the Way You Are, his pappou would rather his granson sang a a dimotiko or two. And Nick, as any other dedicated artist to his supporters, tried to learn some of these songs and is getting ready to give him a surprise or two.

With the request that he will not forget me when he’ll become a big star and the wish for the best of luck on whichever path he chooses to follow in his life, our conversation concludes.

He responds with a heartwarmingly thank you for giving him to talk about his dreams conversation but also for the fact that I made the effort to hear his songs on You Tube.

As they say ‘watch this space’ and this is not an overstatement as this 15-year-old boy does not only have the voice, but something else more important in his armor. The determination and stubbornness to follow his dreams. Sky is the limit for Nick and he has every right to try to reach there. Good luck Nick.
