Greek Australian author Christos Tsiolkas is set to provide an “unflinching look at modern Australia” through his fifth novel Barracuda.
The novel is the highly anticipated follow-up to The Slap, and is due for release on October 23.
The central character of the new book is Daniel Kelly, an aspiring Olympic swimmer nicknamed Barracuda.
He has trained for most of his young life with the single-minded goal of winning the 100m freestyle at the Sydney Olympics. His parents have sacrificed everything to this ambition.
“He is Barracuda. It is meant to be,” reads the publisher’s advance blurb. “But life has other plans . . .”
