The Hawthorn Spartans superb inaugural season in the VAFA Club 18 Southern section nearly saw them taste the ultimate glory of a 2011 grand final flag. They didn’t win the premiership, but did accredit themselves well, their fighting spirit and tenacity seeing them going down by only 15 points.

Ushering in the new 2012 season, the Hawthorn Spartans commenced training last week, focusing on the long road to success and hoping to do one better this year and take out the big prize. Most of last year’s players are back and the team has also picked up some fresh faces, making the 40 man squad look very formidable indeed.

Much of the team’s strength comes from their large fan base – thanks to the supporters who turn up weekly in all sorts of weather volunteering their time and efforts in providing for the team. Apart from the existing sponsors, new ones for 2012 include: Delta Sales, Nortrade International, Financial Index and Neos Kosmos as their major media partner.

The team is set to have a great year. Spartan TV, word of mouth, social media, game day banners, newspaper articles, photos and many more opportunities are available for sponsors to promote their products and services. Club spokesman, George Demetriou said that anyone who loves Australian Rules Football and wants to support, sponsor or volunteer their services is welcome to contact him on 0409 022909 or at george@gdfpartners.com.au Go the mighty Spartans.
