Following a Supreme Court hearing today, Peter Dupas will stand trial on 30 January 2019, charged with murdering 95-year-old Kathleen Downes at a Brunswick nursing home in the early hours of December 31, 1997.

The man who appeared before the Court via video link today, Wednesday 14 March 2018, has been charged over death of Mrs Downes, who was stabbed three times and had her throat cut.

Mrs Downes was last seen at 12:30am during a routine staff routine check of residents, and she was discovered dead during the early morning staff check at 6:20am.
