Greek gymnast Ioanna Xoulogi has won silver at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Representing Greece in the women’s Floor Exercise category on Sunday, Xoulogi managed to score 12,733 points, resulting in the 26-year-old’s first World Cup medal win.

“I just wanted to enjoy taking part,” said Xoulogi.

“Despite the fatigue, I was very pleased with my performance. I just wanted to go to the floor and perform to the best of my ability. And I achieved it.”

Croatia’s Ana Derek went one better, taking out the gold medal with 13,533 points. Turkey’s Demet Mutlu won bronze.

Greece has had a good run in Baku, with Lefteris Petrounias winning gold in the Rings competition on Saturday with 15,333 points.

Held in the capital’s National Gymnastics Arena, a total of 102 gymnasts from across 25 countries took part.

The FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup is made up of a series of competitions organised by the International Gymnastics Federation.
