Crisis or not, with the European summer approaching Greece’s popularity as a travel destination is continuing to grow, with the country expected to achieve a new record of arrivals in 2018.

According to air carrier schedules, demand from foreign tour operators for air seats to Greece is showing an annual increase of 21 per cent.

In comparison, Germany is by far Greece’s biggest tourism market. According to data presented on Thursday by research director Aris Ikkos at the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation, this year Germans are showing a 45 per cent increase in demand for seats compared to last year.

Meanwhile the only significant decline has been seen in the Russian market, believed to be a result of the lowered ruble exchange rate against the euro currency.
