On Friday morning the Premier of South Australia Steven Marshall held a special reception to welcome the visiting members of the Hellenic Presidential Guard to Parliament House.

“Both the Premier and Ensign Kostas Athanasopoulos spoke at the reception about the firm ties that bind our two countries,” Trustee of the Foundation for Hellenic Studies (FHS), Harry Patsouris told Neos Kosmos.

“The Evzones were striking as always in appearance and created quite a scene as they marched passed our Railway Station and on to Parliament House with many passers by stopping to take photos as they marched by,” he added, and went on to thank the Premier on behalf of the FHS for hosting the event.

During his welcome speech he spoke very passionately about his ties with the Greek community particularly through his electorate, officially welcoming the Evzones to Australia.

The Evzones will be in Adelaide until Monday, after which they will head to Sydney to participate in ceremonies marking the anniversary of ANZAC Day and the 76th Anniversary of the Battle of Crete, departing Australia on 30 April.
